Summer Blooms at Sole Repair

When summer comes tumbling along like it has these past few weeks, I know that dahlias will soon be upon us…. Of all the summer blooms, dahlias are one of my absolute favorites — for their vast diversity in color, size, texture, and shape. This wedding at Sole Repair was in the peak of last year’s season, and the dahlias are there to prove it.

Haley and Jeff chose a vibrant color scheme of deep pink, red, orange, and hints of eggplant. Look for just a minute and you’ll see that dahlias are the tip of the iceberg (er, sunberg?). Zinnias, scabiosa, and garden roses are also at play — as are some seasonal oddballs. (It’s really hard to resist ranunculus at any time of year, and orchids were a must-have as a nod to the couple’s home in Hawaii.)

The trend of multiple assorted bottles and jars doing duty as centerpiece vessels has been big for the past three or so years, and that look worked especially well with this reception. With all that color and texture, small touches of flowers still made a big impact.

Many thanks to Jennifer Tai Photo Artistry for the beautiful images!
